From The 2008 Downriver Junior Golf Tour |
Andrew Jasina and Tommy Maley Both Shoot 72!
August 14, 2008
Andrew Jasina won for the second time on the DRJGT in his
first event of 2008, with the lowest round of 2008, an even
par 72. Jasina, who was second on the 2006 points list,
had his first win back in 2006. Jasina's 72 was equaled
by Tommy Maley, who won back on July 29th at this same course.
Tommy and Andrew will be added to the Downriver Junior Golf
Tour Record book. Only four times in the history of the
tour has a player posted a lower score. Congratulations
Andrew and Tommy!

Derek Smith Wins For The Third Time in 2008!

Derek Smith passed five players with two wins on Thursday when
he won for the third time in 2008. Josh Tally, Zach
Griffith, Joe Kobrick, Agron Ziberii, and Tony Fanola all have
two wins this year. |

Alex Grant Shoots 73, James Breslin 74!

after
Rocco Sanfilippo shot 73, Alec Grant duplicated the feat,
tying Sanfilippo for the lowest round of the year. James
Breslin's 74 was the fourth entry of the year into the DRJT
Scoring Records. (see updated chart below)

Rocco Sanfilippo won by 3 shots on Thursday, becoming the
second player this year to add his name to the DRJGT
record books.
On June 26, Andrew Milosch won the Sandy Creek Shootout with a
two over par 74.

seven days later Zach Griffith won for the second time in 2008,
joining four players, Joe Kobrick, Agron Ziberii, Tony Fanola
and Derek Smith with two wins apiece.

Win in 2008!

Monroe, Mich. - Joe Kobrick and Agron Ziberi won their
respective divisions on Monday at Sandy Creek, Agron for the
second consecutive event and Joe for the second time this
month. The victories moved both players to the top of
their divisions
points list.
They joined Tony Fanola and Derek Smith as the only players
with two wins in 2008.
Bobby Matthews in the 13-15 division made an eagle 2 on the
tough par-4 10th hole at Sandy Creek. Congratulations
Bobby!

In 2006 three players accounted for the 4 rounds of 74
or better, in 2007 six players and 10 rounds were added to the
record books.
On June 26, Andrew Milosch won the Sandy Creek Shootout
with a two over par 74, making him the 10th player to post a
74 or better in Tour History.

Sean Van Aken and Mac Howey are Down River Junior Golf Tour
Championship winners.
Van Aken won four of the five events he played in this season, while Howey
saved his best for last, earning his first Down River Junior Golf Tour
victory at the Tour Championship.

In the first 24 events played on The Downriver Junior
Golf Tour par was broken once. On Thursday Nate
Gonring and Aaron Bowman both shot under par to win
their respective divisions of the Links at Lake Eric Classic.
Gonring carded a -3 under par 69, which tied the tour
scoring record set last year by Denny Barnard at Sandy
Creek. Bowman's -1 under par 71 is the best round
ever posted in the 16-18 Division.
